Providers might be fielding inquiries about Medicare telehealth coverage due to the government shutdown that started on October 1, 2025. Please refer to the information below for consistent communication with members.

Per Superior's newsletter there is no disruption to telehealth coverage for our Medicare members or providers. Although federal flexibilities for traditional Medicare ended on September 30, 2025, our Wellcare, Wellcare By Allwell, and Wellcare By Superior HealthPlan Medicare plans continue to provide telehealth services as additional benefits for both 2025 and 2026.

Wellcare foresaw the potential impact of this expiration and took proactive measures to ensure continuity of care. Our Medicare plans were filed with telehealth benefits that align with the previously existing flexibilities, enabling us to maintain coverage even as traditional Medicare returns to former rules.

What This Means for Providers

  • Continue to offer and bill for telehealth visits as usual.

  • There is no disruption to payments or coverage.

What This Means for Members

  • Members should keep attending telehealth appointments.

  • Their plan coverage remains unchanged.

While other health plans might revert to earlier telehealth rules, our members will continue to enjoy the same telehealth benefits they have had throughout 2025 and into 2026.
